Benefits Of Sandhyavandanam

BENEFITS OF SANDHYAVANDANAM FOR YOUNG BRAHMACHARIS:-

It is worthy to note that, the regular performance of the sandhyavandanam in a young brahmachari is what will decide what he becomes in the future, what culture he gains, what status in material & spiritual life he attains & so on. The question asked by the so called "modern" parents of today is that, how does this help their children? The answer are as follows:

*The sandhyavandanam MUST be started at the tender age of around 8 years. This inculcates discipline, devotion, patience, stability, etc into the young child's mind as his tender mind is still free from different kleshas. Innocence is still prevalent at this age & it is important to rightly guide the child & shape him to be an excellent individual.

*All the japas include a "dhyana shloka(a hymn to meditate on the form of the deity)". With good understanding of this shloka, a young brahmachari is able to "visualise" the deity in his mind. This increases the imagination power & the creativity of the child. He learns to "develop" things/concepts in the mind through divinity.

*Yogic aspects such as the pranayama, nyasas, mudras, etc cause excellent development in the physical body as well as the mind. It increases the immunity, the thinking power & inner strength of the child.

*The pranayama slowly improves the health of young brahmacharis. They do not develop breathing problems & throughout the span of their life, they retain their health.

*Over time, those brahmacharis who rigourosly perform the sandhyavandanam knowing its meaning develop a much higher mental stability. Today we see young boys running away from homes, committing suicide, involving in criminal activities, etc. This is primarily because they cannot digest even little downfalls in their lives. Even a little scolding from a parent or teacher makes them take extreme steps. Continuous performance of sandhyavandam brings about a sense of stability in their minds & they do not become mentally weak.

*By imbuing the sandhyavandanam into the life of young brahmacharis at a young stage of their lives, you turn them into great patriots of their culture, tradition & country. They develop profound respect for their heritage & nation.

*We see these days that parents & teachers try to inculcate good habits like speaking truth into children usually by threatening them. However, those who perform sandhyavandanam regularly, natuarally develop honesty in themselves. They become more inclined towards truth & righteousness.

*We normally see certain sections of the youth show negligence or disrespect towards our tradition. In the long run, they become morally weak. They throw out their own parents & become a hindrance to the society. This can be avoided if sandhyavandanam is introduced at a very early age. Natural inclination towards divine aspects naturally bring about great qualities in them. Remember that even great scientists like Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam are staunch believers of divinity.

*Many children suffer from concentration problems. This becomes even more dominant as they reach higher classes. The reason for this is they do not have the ability to develop a concept in their minds & fix all their attention on it. The japas performed during the sandhyavandanam always involve the part wherein the boy has to visualise the deity in his mind & meditate on it continuously. When taught well, this increases concentration.

*It is not only the material aspects of life that parents must look after. It is their sole responsibility to ensure that in the long run their offspring must develop spiritual temper, i.e the ability to grasp spiritual aspects. At one or the other point of life, one who has continuously performed sandhyavanadam will feel the desire to know divinity. The spark slowly begins to grow as a little flame. It is the responsibility of parents to ensure that this flame is not extinguished even before it is formed.

*It is the responsibility of grandparents & especially the grandfather to make sure the young brahmacharis of our community tread the right path. We see several grandparents criticize their children for not upholding their culture. But understand that it is you yourself who is responsible for this. Instead of wasting your retired lives watching tv serials, chatting with anyone & everyone, etc take up the task of explaining the importance of our culture to your grandchildren at a very young age. If young children can be brainwashed into terrorists by extremists in the name of jihad, why can't we inculcate habits which bring good to our own younger generation?

Each & every one of us must strive to follow our culture & make sure the next generations follow it. We must not resort to forcing them in this regard. Instead, we ourselves should understand & make them understand as well.

Who invented the tamil language?

According to the evolution theory and the migration studies of human beings, we originated in Africa and one group migrated to South India and another migrated to present day Arabia/Iran and then into europe...The first inhabitants of the Indian subcontinent were the dravidians who lived in present day south tamilnadu and kerala...and they spoke a language that is derived by imitating the basic sounds of birds and animals...this language later grew to be called Tamil and it had acquired a written form...The brahmi script was used in the earliest tamil literature that has been found..this script is the base of all the scripts of dravidian languages...

DNA studies have shown that the original inhabitants of the Indian subcontinent (Much before the Aryans came into north India and much before the language sanskrit was born) were the Virumandi clan in tamilnadu and they speak Tamil...these people are the original Indians if you want to call them so...Please watch the googlevideos link and the DNA studies of the haplo group website...

Later Dravidians migrated further north and and settled in present day karnataka, Andhra etc...Initially these settlers were speaking tamil but slowly it got modified and they developed their own script and their dialect developed into a mature, independent form known as todays Kannada and Telugu...

until the 10t century Tamil and Malayalam were the same language and there was no distinction.."Malayalam" means "the dialect of the Hill people" in Tamil...slowly the hill people beyond the western ghats mountain ranges developed tehir own style and dialect and malayam branched off as a separate language...with its own literature..

Some dravidians migrated even further north into the present day afghanistan and iran and they have also evolved into a seprate language (Eg Malto).... The indus valley script (The language of the indus valley civilisation) is so far undeciphered...but so far the best accepted and the most consistent theory is that this language was dravidian...the original harappans who lived in present day balochistan in pakistan, spoke a dravidian language called Brahvi...It must be noted also that the indua vally civilisation happened much later than the migrant settlers in deep south India that i mentioned earlier(The virumandis)..

Now all these dravidian languages are quite mature and independent though they they had the same origin and this origin language was called Tamil..It must be noted than written script evolved much much later and hence origin of the languages can be much older than their written forms...

Sanskrit came into present day India/pakistan much later ...Sanksrits origin can be traced back to the deserts of present day Turkhemenistan...later all these languages had some influence of sanskrit and sanskrit also had got influenced heavily from these dravidian languages..sanskrit has also borrowed a lot of words from dravidian languages...Though the origin of sanskrit can be traced to central asia, it was nourished and and it grew to its full glory in the area around present day north India/Kashmir and pakistan...

Hindi is has three or four languages to thank as its origin...Awadhi,Brajbasha,Arabic and Persian...Since Awadhi and brajbasha are derived from sanskrit you can say the mother language of present day hindi are sanskrit, arabic and persian...you cannot ignore arabic and persian vocabulary as they form a very vital part of Hindi...the mughals were responsible for this...Tulsidas wrote ramachandra harita in Awadhi, not in Hindi as many people think...

I guess that pretty much helps clear the origin of most Indian languages. this is the current consensus of most independent historians and linguists in the world and hence is the most trustable/scientific version of the story of our languages...however hardliners will have their own story since they dont want to hurt their own identities...i wish tey leave their emotions alone and follow rationality...

If you were to choose a single language that originated independantly and grew and nourished completely in India, By Indians, ever since the first human being set foot on Indian Soil... it is Tamil...and All Indians can be proud of this languauge

What are the disadvantages of male circumcision?

Circumcision is the amputation of the foreskin, not extra skin but an integral part of the penis; measuring 15 square inches in an adult, over half the penile skin, including the most sensitive parts of the penis. The foreskin is packed with nerve endings, special anatomical features like the ridged band and has a unique elastic gliding action, allowing it to slide on itself and act like lube. This action is what most males use to masturbate with. Circumcised males use what skin they have left, except those who are cut so tightly that they have to use lube or just rub it dry. The intact male can stroke the entire length of his penis using his foreskin and also has the option to use lube too, if he wants to. During intercourse the foreskin acts like lube on entry and may act as a dam, preventing lubricating secretions escaping from the vagina. In one study women reported that sex with an intact partner was gentler and more satisfying since he doesn't have to thrust as hard to feel enough stimulation. Removing the foreskin turns the surface of the glans from an inner mucosal membrane to outside skin. Newly circumcised adults usually go through some weeks of intense discomfort as the glans is constantly exposed to rubbing on clothing, until it develops a thicker keratin layer and becomes less sensitive.

Not one major medical organisation in the world recommends routine infant circumcision anymore. The US is the last western nation still doing this to about 50% of its newborn males but even there rates are falling and many insurance companies no longer cover it. Sadly when it is done they don't use anaesthetic or when they do it’s risky and ineffective. It's child abuse, pure and simple.

The penis forms as one organ and at birth the foreskin is usually fused to the glans like a fingernail to its finger. So there is no cavity for germs and dirt to collect in until it separates naturally later, at an average age of 10. Only the boy himself should retract it and then he can be taught to skin back and rinse with plain water regularly.
Misguided attempts to retract too early, often by doctors and nurses, are the main cause of damage to boys’ foreskins and the real main reason for childhood circumcisions.

To perform a neo-natal circumcision the circumciser has to rip the foreskin away from the glans with forceps. Then the foreskin is either cut away or clamped until it falls off. Both methods cause the baby extreme pain and his raw glans and wound sting every time he urinates. It's quite common for the raw edges of the cut foreskin to fuse to the raw glans during the healing process, forming skin bridges or tags. These complications and other more serious ones are often not found till puberty and do not show up in complication statistics.
More serious complications, though not common are immediate. Some babies lose their penis to infection, bleed profusely (often because they are haemophiliac) or even die each year.

The claimed benefits of circumcision are a beat up but medical authorities have worked out that the overall complication rate is higher than all the benefits claimed by the pro-cutting advocates. One by one the claims are disproved but the pro-cutting zealots come up with more and keep quoting the old ones despite the evidence against them. For example you have more chance of dying from a circumcision or losing your penis from wound infection than from penile cancer. The rate of penile cancer is higher in the largely-circumcised USA than in European countries where less than 1% of males are circumcised. The US Cancer Society does NOT recommend routine circumcision.

A study in New Zealand followed a cohort of boys through life from birth to age 32. About 40% were circumcised. The intact males had a slightly lower rate of sexually transmitted infections than the circumcised but there was no significant difference.

Using surgery to mutilate the genitals instead of washing in a modern western society makes no sense. Normal intact male genitals are even easier to wash than female ones and the same substance, smegma collects in the genital folds of both sexes. A few intact males have problems with tight foreskin but this is only a tiny proportion of intact males. The condition can now be almost always treated with simple stretching exercises, sometimes in combination with a steroid cream that speeds up the process.

I'm not circumcised and I am happy as heaven. All parents should stop doing this stupid thing, without knowing  their kid's like and dislike in the future. Nature made a penis with a foreskin for many good reason. I'm a hindu from india, and we strictly against this circumcision in our religion for 1000s of years. Intact men can choose to get cut at any time in their life, though most have no desire to do so. Many men resent being circumcised. It's just not something that most of us talk about a lot, even to our parents.

Any boy born now will grow up with many intact friends and there is every chance he would resent this unnecessary cosmetic surgery.
